Habitat gardening creates shared areas of natural beauty for animals (including people), birds, insects, and plants.
It’s well suited to small, urban gardens. It is usually low cost, low maintenance, and low on trips to the garden centre. It looks after water sources, the soil, and the air.
Habitat gardening could be called ‘hedgefrog gardening’ because all-round success can be judged on the welcome offered to frogs and hedgehogs.

What do you need? You need PIE – as in Patience, Imagination and Empathy.
Patience because it takes at least a year to create a habitat garden.
Imagination because habitat gardeners use what is readily available and, or, ripe for on-site recycling.
Empathy because the welfare of human and non-human inhatitants are considered equal.
